H. E. Prof. Alpha Oumar Konare, Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union visited TCIL on 21st Dec 2006. Prior to this he was taken to Tele-education facility in IGNOU to give him a real-time experience on the overall quality of communication (audio, video and data) over the sophisticated network set up by TCIL between India and Ethiopia for the pilot project on Tele-education and Tele-medicine
